I have never experienced another city quite like Wellington, New Zealand. It is a whimsical city full of culture, eccentricity and unfathomable beauty. I feel an accurate description would be a capital city with a small town feel. It is the type of city that accommodates to pedestrians and welcomes walking as the preeminent form of transportation. Owning a vehicle in the country is not a necessity and I find that notion unduly freeing. I have been extremely spoiled of being able to walk to the ocean almost every day for over a year now and am now wondering what it will be like if my next journey is without the sea. The ocean has become an influential part of my life and I have always admired the pulchritude and feared peril of it.
